We booked a 2 room suite for our daughter’s birthday for she and her friends. The staff was very rude during the entire stay. The bathrooms had water damage on the walls and doors and smelled like mold. When I returned from a walk in the morning, at 8:00am, I was asked by a staff member if I was checking out. Then later in the hallway I was asked if I was checking out. Three other times I was asked if I was checking out before the 1200 checkout time. It was clear that the just want us out of the room and we’re rushing us out the door. For 1600 per night I would expect at least average customer service. This was literally the worst experience I have had at a hotel since a Motel 6, twenty years ago. Do not stay here!!!!!!

Want to pay an exorbitant price to not be allowed to use the pool jacuzzi or communal amenities? Want to listen to a rave and people shouting because the management rented out the internal space? How about the 9:00 cutoff for everything but the party they rented goes well past 10? Yes if you want to sleep AARON at the front desk will tell you oh they turned the music off at least. But you can hear the hundreds of people still partying where you're not allowed to go through the door. Oh and absolutely zero notice to those renting or any sort of compensation for any of this. Again zero notice. No notice. Expect your weekend rental to be an overpriced motel 6. That's probably putting it nicely. Feel the springs in your mattress. Enjoy the gratiating sounds of nails on a chalkboard in the elevators. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Classic hotel. Mid mod furniture is impressive. Location is perfect. Folks were nice housekeeping was excellent. In the heart of downtown so perhaps bring earplugs tho not completely necessary. Nice towels good water pressure. Basically a well-kept hotel from a different era. No complaints.

My girlfriend and I were a bit nervous on the way into town after reading reviews about this hotel, but on a holiday weekend in Santa Monica you couldn't really beat the price. The service from staff was completely fine and everyone was really nice to us. Everyone kept mentioning in reviews about hidden fees, which are not really hidden at all as it is posted everywhere from the booking sites to the hotel itself. The awesome thing about these resort fees is that they outline exactly what they are using them for AND GIVE YOU 2 FREE DRINKS TO THE RESTUARANT ATTACHED TO THE HOTEL!!! AND A DISCOUNT ON THE FOOD!!! The hotel and rooms are outdated and basic but super clean and cute. After reading the history of the actual hotel we got even more excited to be staying there!!! You literally can't beat this location. We barely used our car and the only time we did was when we went to Manhattan beach & Venice. There are so many food and shopping options within steps of the front entrance of the hotel. Not to mention we stumbled upon the 3rd street Promenade, which was so cute all lit up at night!!! What I will say as a heads up to people planning on staying here is the valet is $35 a day HOWEVER there is a parking garage literally next door for $25 a day, we wish we would've known this! On the roof top of this parking garage next door is some of the best views of Santa Monica you'll see, please trust me and go take a look! Overall, I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews on this place. I really enjoyed it and will be staying again!

If you are considering staying here DO IT!!!! Absolutely spotless hotel one of the cleanest I’ve ever come across and I’ve stayed in 5 star hotels…The service is wonderful and always with a smile!! Yes this hotel is an older hotel but everything is spot on clean and in good repair! There are so many staff just like a 5 star hotel even better I thought! Great location this place is a must if you’re on a budget but honestly this will forever be my go to hotel when in Santa Monica! I can’t thank the staff enough! Oh and the toiletries are great!! Hawaiian Tropic… smells like coconut! This place was perfection ♥️

Such an awesome place. The moment I walked in I was impressed. I had a very late check in and they still had staff available. Everything is organized and very clean! I stayed in the female dorms with an en-suite. As a solo female traveler I felt extremely safe. The bed was comfortable and no squeaky bunk beds like I had read in the reviews. All the staff were helpful. The location is perfect- walk in any direction to stores and restaurants. The ocean is a block away, the pier is walking distance. I would absolutely go back.

Its a great hostel to say. There is plenty of space and rooms to just sit and relax and meet other people. If you are driving a car and trying to be budget friendly, find another hostel. There is no free parking anywhere. I paid $45 overnight at the garage across the street and i thought it was only going to be $25. Its nothing on the hostel, just for anyone else. They have a huge kitchen and dining area. Very family friendly as well. I would recommend

Hostel is good but I had a very bad experience. I had 2 of 5 nights alone in the room, so I left my jacket, my pyjama, my cosmetics and some of little belongings on my bed. When I came back in the evening everything was taken, but my bed wasn't done. It must be a room service that brought all my stuff. I was freaking out that someone stole my belongings. I went down to the front desk and explained my story. The guy on the front desk told me “come tomorrow and speak with the manager”. I asked him to look everywhere, maybe in the back office somewhere. I even showed him a big plastic bag close to the front desk and asked him to look into that, because it looked like my stuff. He said that he already checked there and nothing is there. I insisted many times. I felt so vulnerable. I didn't feel that he wants to help me. He was sending me back to talk to manager the next day. I went eating. When I came back, he said that in 30 min someone else will be on the front desk so I could ask her, which I did. The lady from the front desk found my belongings in this plastic bag in 1 minute!!! But the guy said he checked there. I think he didn't care about my situation at all. I had so difficult evening, thinking that my belongings were stolen, but at the end they were there… I still didn't understand why the room service took them from my room. If they thought that I checked out, they would do my bed as well… They didn't. And I can't understand why the guy on the front desk didn't check in this plastic bag even if I asked for…

My wife and I recently stayed at the Georgian Hotel. We had a Christmas work party dinner that we attended while staying in one of the corner suites. It was an amazing experience. Not only was the room spacious, had an incredible views of the islands and Malibu. The accommodations were reasonably priced for the experience. The combination of the friendly and helpful staff and the attention to detail really impressed me. Every detail was thoughtful from the personalized thank you card waiting in the room to the bottle of wine. Thank you, we will be coming back!

Great art deco style, almost-boutique hotel in a fantastic location, and good prices relative to almost all other hotels in downtown Santa Monica. Nice friendly staff, and the veranda restaurant is a great spot for breakfast. Has 2 negatives – the walls are thin so you hear a lot from your neighbors; parking and getting bags to/from your car is a pain, you are kinda stuck always using the valet. They are all super accommodating but still, a bit of a drag. We've stayed multiple times and would again, highly recommend.

Loveliest hotel around Santa Monica. One of the first hotels to be established. Very quick and efficient service. They have a lovely restaurant as well called The Veranda. My husband and I stayed on the 8th floor. Very lovely view and not too expensive at all!! I love the art deco style of this hotel. A must go to if you're visiting Santa Monica 🙂

We stayed here a little less than a week and for the high price we were not very happy. While waiting to check in we watched a homeless woman lock herself in the lobby bathroom and refuse to come out. Staff, management and security tried for probably half an hour and even called the cops before she left the hotel cussing loudly. So, yeah, that was our initial impression. That wouldn't be our only experience with the homeless/belligerent/inebriated. From our balcony view you can easily see many homeless sleeping on the sidewalks and grass. The picture I wish I could attach photos of a homeless couple clinging together sleeping across the street from my room. I really thought this area would be different but no. It literally reminded my husband and I of The Walking Dead. So very sad. Also, the beach access was hard, it's loud here at night, it's $45 a day to park whether you use valet or not, no laundry room and stupid showers. Wouldn't recommend or return.

I booked a reservation through Hotels.com for a weekend in November 2021 with Ocean View Hotel. A month before my reservation dates I canceled the trip (well within the cancelation policy). Come to find out Ocean View Hotel charged me for a one-night stay. Inquiring about the charge I reached out to Hotels.com and Ocean View Hotel to ask for a refund and make them aware of the mistake. Ocean View Hotel said they didn't charge me anything and Hotels.com backed the story and said nothing was being refunded (even with proof). Ocean View Hotel even sent me an email with an invoice for the dates of the reservation showing me they charged $0. I sent emails to both Ocean View Hotel and Hotels.com with proof of being charged $424.23 on my bank statements. It has now been over 7 days without a response from either Hotels.com or Ocean View Hotel. Poor experience from both companies and won't be utilizing either of these companies going forward.

Pro: Room is clean and has everything, service is great. Cons: Old building I suppose, the door and windows are not holding any noise, and the AC is a little loud too. The hot water is not stable, have to adjust 3 times in a 10 min shower session.

This is a very beautiful hotel! It's in the perfect location right beside the Santa Monica Pier. The atmosphere around the hotel is phenomenal! Any time of the year, it's always popping with lights and people! Tons of places around to shop, visit and enjoy! The staff is amazing and just plain super nice! Just walking around after settling in is the best part for me. It just all comes together for a fantastic LA experience!

The Shore Hotel was very nice, and accommodating. Coming in from the Midwest with a cancelled flight and exhausted from traveling for 24 hours once we finally arrived we were greeted with great customer service and a bonus…glass of champagne. The room was nice and clean. Walking distance from the beach and nice restaurants. Only a 22 min Uber to LAX. I will definitely be staying again!

NO. Hotel cancelled my reservation prior to arrival (though notified of a late check-in and I had to rebook and pay a no-show fee). They have no mini fridge in the rooms, take forever to get back to you, the rooms are done every 3 days. The rooms are old with popcorn ceilings. It's honestly a joke. Good things – one friendly staff person who greeted me upon arrival and location.

Zero star. Zero price. Zero customer service. 1. Management. 2. I stayed before in this hotel paying $400/a night. 3. Come to meet my friend there. Having issues with my health asked the key for restroom. Got bunch of questions, who is my friend, which room is she and etc. Sorry guys. I have no time and health to waste on you anymore. You do not deserve your normal guests. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

First time to California for our first family vacation. We stayed 4 nights and didn’t have any issues just wish they had microwave and a refrigerator in the rooms but other than that the room was a little dated but clean and the staff was friendly. We enjoyed the location, the fact that they are right next to the Santa Monica pier & beach was so nice. It was easy to get to places walking. The parking is ok it was a little hard to get out especially if you didn’t find a space on G2 or G3. Over all it was a wonderful place to stay and I’d definitely recommend.

If you want to stay in a hotel for people, consider somewhere else. If you are keen on staying in a kennel, this is your place. Had to listen to a poor dog left in a room barking for hours, then moved to another room that clearly had been recently occupied by a large hound – caused an asthma attack. Gee, guess what some folks have allergies but who cares! Staff are great though but maybe think about people, as much as hounds. Should I bring my alpaca next time I come??

Loved the place. Super clean and sparkly Spacious room. Good amenities – they have tons of options for restaurants, spa services , Barbara/salon etc. The room has a tablet with all information . In room dining options – lots of options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Valet parking. Friendly staff. Good location – very close to the beach, restaurants, Santa Monica pier, 3rd Street promenade. I will be one of the few to do five stars. The star rating has nothing to do with cleanliness. You have to look past that, as clearly it is an old facility. The rooms are old and just a little icky visually, mostly just the bathroom area. If you are a visual clean freak, then, close your eyes. The stars are because it’s an amazing location, within walking distance of the pier and anything else fun. The staff was friendly. The rooms are “cute” and quaint. They sleep 4 with two beds. The space heater didn’t really keep it warm but there were plenty of blankets to make up for it. We paid $35 for overnight parking which seemed worth it, since they monitored us every time we parked and made it easy for us to not look for parking.

My room had a sea view, it was filled with light, and it was every bit the vintage California I remember from my childhood. The staff are friendly, the bed was very comfortable, and the location can't be beat. I rented a car I barely used because the hotel is a block from restaurants, the pier, and the promenad. Your experience of this hotel will greatly depend on which room you stay in as the roadside rooms are very noisy, but I didn't experience that whatsoever. My only criticism regards the water pressure which is restricted and the temperature which changes when people use water in other rooms. It made my showers 3x longer than they would have been otherwise. Given that I could go for a run on the beach directly out my door, I'm not about to rate them lower because of water pressure. I'll miss staying here honestly.

This hotel is an absolute wreck in terms of management. I signed up for a hotel room with an ocean view and paid extra for that. When I got there, my room had absolutely no view of the ocean. It looked out partially at the pool. I went back down to the front desk and explained this but they told me that I was wrong and that this was an ocean view! It was like I was in the twilight zone! Then, I finally convinced them to give me a room with an ocean view. They were going to charge me even more but I asked to speak with the manager. The manager was reluctant to come out but I insisted. I explained that in the room to which I was assigned clearly had no ocean view at all unless you consider the swimming pool part of the ocean. Finally, they agreed to let me stay in a room with an ocean view at the rate that I was quoted on the Internet. However, upon leaving, I was charged the actual higher rate for the room to which they said they were giving me a complementary rate. Now I can’t get a hold of anyone to discuss this. Beyond the management issues, the reality is that this Hotel does not deserve a five star ranking. It is very pretty. However, they have done very little to the rooms to create a five-star experience. There is great opportunity there, but they have not done it. Compared to the other five-star hotels in Los Angeles, this is an absolute joke of a place. And they keep saying I booked a partial ocean view which is a joke two/fold. First I booked a full ocean view and they admitted that to me. Second, there wasn’t even a partial view of the ocean. The only water I could see is the swimming pool!

Summary: Nice property and amenities; service needs drastic improvement; be prepared to add an extra $100/night for resort ($39) and parking fees ($60). We were very excited to stay at this beachfront luxury hotel. The hotel is very beautiful and the lobby, restaurant, and pool all have great views of the Santa Monica beach and boardwalk. Our first experience with the front desk was great. I had accidentally booked a room with a single king bed instead of double queen beds and they accommodated us and switched for us free of charge. The hotel charges a steep $60 per night for valet parking. Note that if you bring a car, there is no nearby public parking since the lots close at night, and you have to opt for the valet. The valet is slow, and on several occasions took around 15 minutes to bring the car out. The restaurant service needs significant improvement. We had breakfast at the restaurant twice and both experiences were awful. The first time, I had requested an ingredient to be removed from the avocado toast for allergy purposes and they did not follow the request. The second time, our server only took our order and did not serve us for the rest of the meal. A kitchen staff brought us our meal and we asked for refills on our waters, and he told us he will get the server. They never came. We were finished and were waiting for our bill for 20 minutes and it never showed up. Our server wasn’t even in sight. Since we gave them our room number and last name before being seated, we decided to leave since we had a flight to catch. When we received the bill for that day, there was an automatic 20% gratuity charge! The front desk ended up striking that charge for us, but it was still unpleasant. This hotel fails to live up to the standard of a luxury 5-star hotel. While it is a nice location and has nice amenities (the gym was great, and had a locker room with a sauna), the service needs improvement before it can compete with other luxury hotels in the area. Part of the 5-star experience is the service and it is lacking here.

A lovely place with lovely views. Had a great time here. Within walking distance from the beach and the boardwalk. Whether you're relaxing inside the room or enjoying the spacious balcony it overlooked the street and still feel really relaxing oh, it's pretty nice place to stay. A little pricey, for the size of the room, but they treat you right.

Stayed here for our wedding weekend and it was the perfect back drop for our pre- wedding photos. The staff was amazing, even made our stay extra special by upgrading our suite. While we didn't book a room block at the Viceroy a number of our guests ended up staying at the here as well. The pool area and bar made for great spots to hang out pre and post events and, across the board, all our guests were raving about the space and service. Great hotel, great location, highly recommended for larger gatherings or even a more intimate getaway.

2021 Christmas Eve Morning. Management decides to test the ALARM SYSTEM. In the morning! Other things to be aware: 1. Zero privacy bathroom. Sliding door just hanging there. 2. Parking is overpriced 3. Mirrors on the headboard right in your face. 4. Generally outdated property. 5. Random alarm system tests will wake you up.

This hotel is a hidden gem in Santa Monica and really the LA area. The place is so well kept as well and the staff is super friendly. It's a very cute boutique hotel but with the big brand backing of Hilton. The GM Emily there is phenomenal and the rest of her staff makes sure your stay is memorable and perfect. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. As a frequent traveler this is in my now top 5 places to stay.

Although I haven't stayed here since my wedding night, which was when they were new, almost thirty years ago, this review is for my many times at the restaurants and in the bar/lobby/balcony. Shutters is our simply wonderful neighborhood hangout and we love it. It is a great place to catch up with friends on cozy couches, have some drinks and a nosh, sit by the fireplace, or watch the sun go down over the ocean under a gentle breeze.

The rooms are lovely with attention to details. The view overlooking the ocean and Santa Monica pier is fantastic. Especially the food is outstanding. Executive Chef Vittorio and his team create outstanding meals. Do try the pizza – best authentic dough made by a real neapolitan star Chef Vittorio!

Stayed at the Gateway Hotel Santa Monica the third week of November for a business trip. Overall, not a bad hotel if staying for a short period of time and for the convenience of being in the centre of Santa Monica. The front desk was great and carried all sorts of toiletries (forgot some of ours!) They also offered a free grab and go breakfast before 9:30 am, but we didn’t get a chance to try. Hotel room was quite clean and bathroom seemed newly updated. However, there were some downsides to staying at this hotel. The room perhaps was overly clean, as the sheets and room overall had a very strong chlorine/cleaning product scent. The walls are incredibly thin so I was woken up quite a few times by either outside noise, or noise from nearby rooms being cleaned, or construction noises. There seemed to be some construction noises during our stay, as we heard loud banging noises from upstairs throughout the day. Could have also sounded like scrubbing of a bathtub, but overall woke me up quite a few times. There is also a restaurant right under the hotel, which also adds to the noisiness in the area. Still rate this hotel a 3/5 since it is in a very convenient location for a short stay, was clean, and had all the basic necessities.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Friendly and helpful staff, room was spacious, quiet and comfortable. Short walk to the beach and 3rd Street promenade, a 24/7 donut shop just around the corner and a great restaurant downstairs.

Clean and convenient. Do not like different rates for different nights of my stay. However, this may be industry standard but still doesn't stand to reason.

Beautiful location with stunning Pacific Ocean views. This luxury hotel has an interesting rustic and ancient feel to it. The staff is very friendly and courteous. Food is an area to further improve by having more variety of cuisines. Overall, if you’re planning to spend some private intimate time with your partner or loved ones, check this place out.

Amazing stay from beginning to end! The hotel is beautiful and the location prime, but the real magic comes from the awesome team that works there. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, and really went out of their way to ensure our stay was perfect. A big thank you to Zack for helping us with our booking and room, and to everyone else at Hotel Casa Del Mar. It was a perfect anniversary stay! Can't wait to return!

We stayed at Hotel Casa del Mar for our honeymoon and we loved it! The customer service was amazing and they even gifted us some champagne and chocolate covered strawberries for the first night of our stay. The hotel has beautiful ocean views and the Santa Monica pier is only a 10min walk away. We highly recommend staying here!

This hotel was nice to stay for the night. It’s located close by the beach. The hotel offers parking but unfortunately we didn’t reach parking that night. We parked in front of the building and had to move our car by 9am. The room was a decent size but the bathroom was tiny. Thankfully no bed bugs or any kind of insects. I had no noise complaints and the night was peaceful.

Great location but room was vey tired and bathroom definitely could do with a bit of paint and update. Good value for location but still very basic. Lovely staff and friendly.

A very well located new hotel in Santa Monica with great amenities. Staff is excellent, extremely clean, offers free a.m. coffee and drinks in the p.m. while located across from very interesting restaurants.

The Ambrose is such an amazing hotel and it truly doesn't get the ratings it deserves!! I'd give it ten stars if they were available! The level of customer service is above and beyond!! The ambiance they create with everything turn is mind blowing!! Not to mention, the evening happy hour is not too shabby!! They only do the housekeeping every three days but will accommodate any needs/requests in the interim. This was no problem for us because we actually prefer the privacy! The only way this experience could be any better is if they had a pool!! Either way, I definitely recommend this hotel and will stay again when in the area!

I Highly recommend this Hotel. Affordable Prices Along With Great Rooms And Employee's. The staff was very professional and helpful. The rooms are very comfortable and clean with big sized beds & TVs. Theres a relaxing lounge in front of the hotel and has a underground parking structure which is very helpful.

Loved this place! Staff very nice! Loved the rooms. Did have a bit thin walls but not terrible. Bar at rooftop was great -limited casual dishes more upscale only but food was great. Great location too.

The Huntley was the perfect location in Santa Monica to enjoy a lovely weekend. They observe safe guards against Covid, It's clean and safe. It's a 4+ star hotel with a touch of luxury amenities. We were walking distant from shopping, the peier, and the beach. The restaurant on the penthouse floor is a MUST. The beds were very clean and comfortable. Nice, modern style. Be aware of the $55/day parking. What can I say, you're in California!

Nice hotel, very large room, comfy bed as well, with modern ‘gadgets' (light control, iPad in room). Staff was fine, some nicer than others I have to say. Quite a great view from the Penthouse restaurant. Rooms are a bit noisy, thin wall make you hear anyone in the hallway or the guest next door, banging of doors and the truck collecting the trash in the street.

Great stay until this morning. We were never informed that one could not eat outside food in the lobby area. I was eating a breakfast sandwich when an employee interrupted my meal to say outside food was not allowed. We were never told this upon check in, there are no signs posted, he passed me a number of times before he stopped. Perhaps he should have let me know before I ate. It was very embarrassing and did not make me welcomed. After embarrassing me, He proceeded to tell me I could finish my sandwich. I have no problem with policies but they must be communicated if they are to be followed. Poor hospitality choice.

This is overall a pretty good hotel but considering the cost I expected a lot more! The staff are all really nice especially Jimmy and the hotel is generally pretty clean. The bar closes at 10 which I found pretty ridiculous especially in a hotel of this type. We wanted a coffee but could only get champagne from reception haha normally would have been ok but there were no coffee facilities in the rooms either so walked to the nearest 7-11. Bathrooms in the bedrooms are a bit run down. Location is excellent and the bike rental is a nice touch. On site parking facility is very good too. Pool not bad but pool area could do with updating.

I went here for my daughter's friends bat mitzvah and it was a really cool location. They had it in the penthouse and it felt like an intimate beautiful venue. The kids had a blast, the adults had space where they could chat and unwind and there was a really cool game room off to the side.

Lobby area Rep was completely disengaged and didn’t adequately communicate. Stood in line to then be handed a submittal sheet to stand in line again to ask a follow up question to then stand in line again to turn it in. And then when I voiced my displeasure he had a power trip!

This place is worst. A lot of new people who have no idea what they are doing! Parking is also awful and wait times are inaccurate.

I received an unfair parking ticket back in January so I immediately appealed it online. A little over a month goes by and I didn't hear anything so I called the line listed on the website. The woman on the line was rude and told me my case still hadn't been reviewed and wouldn't be until March. I asked if I should call back and she said there was no need as they'd send me the result in the mail so just wait for that. Fast forward to April: I still hadn't heard anything. So I decide it had to be time to call in. It turns out they denied my appeal back at the end of February and my payment was overdue. I asked if I could appeal it and this woman said no because I only had 21 days to do so after the ruling. She did have a record that I called in but that didn't matter and said the first person must've told me that it was my responsibility to check back. That wasn't true, in fact I was told the opposite. She said that if I paid the ticket today that I'd only have to pay the original amount, which under duress I did. But what an illegal tactic. The first time I called they told me they didn't make a ruling on my first appeal when it appears they did but were either unorganized and didn't know or just wanted to trick the caller. Ultimately, because they didn't mail the result of my appeal, I missed the chance to file a second appeal which according to them is state law. When I pointed out that I really didn't receive it, she just stated as long as they have down your correct address on their file, that's proof enough. Be very careful folks if you decide to appeal. They won't mail you the result and will say they did. I don't think they ever grant any appeals anyway and the window of time to submit one is tiny, so if you want to file a second appeal, keep calling in. I decided to fight it and another reviewer here said we could do just that with the California Department of Consumer Affairs — but we can't. I contacted them and they referred me to the Los Angeles Department of Business and Consumer Affairs. Well, since this is a government entity you can only file for mediation. That means it'll only go as far as they want it to. The Parking Violations Bureau knows this so ultimately they'll ignore any facts you list and still rule against you. We really should file a class action lawsuit. It'll be the only way to put an end to this injustice. Good luck everyone and keep your car clear out of Santa Monica! Better yet, keep yourself and loved ones out of Santa Monica!!!

Couldn't find a parking place by the Holiday Inn, so crossed the freeway and parked on Colorado at a meter, walked back across the freeway to the 1717 address. When I arrived and was going to take a number, a prominent sign told me that I could no longer renew my permit there and would need to go online to get it. What email address to send to was not explained.
