in November 2021 I stayed at this B&B for 4 nights. I had the biggest possible room with a view of the streets. I liked it very much. Due to a delayed flight and a very long border control, I didn't arrive at the hotel until midnight, but it was still fine with the owners. Easy access to Manhattan, approximately 30 minutes by subway. Quiet neighborhood, I often came back at night and nothing bad happened to me, although I think it is a bit unpleasant to come back at night. Very nice owners. Wifi in the room, not too strong signal, there was a TV in the room. Two bathrooms, one on each floor, very clean. Thanks a lot for nice stay

My stay here has been so amazing. The host is very professional, and will diligently exceed your expectations. Don't get me started on how the place is always kept so clean. I'd give it 6 stars!

The price was amazing and the owners really make it feel like a home away from home! The house is historical and absolutely gorgeous with the spacious rooms and amazing architecture!
The Jefferson BNB is a definite MUST STAY for anyone seeking a cozy place to stay that includes an awesome and friendly vibe that you really can't get anywhere else!

Last spring we stayed here during 9 days, and had the most excellent experience. The place is conveniently close to public transportation, Prospect Park, stores, Church, and excellent restaurants. The house is located on a very nice street, full of very well kept houses. The room was beautiful (Hibiscus Room), very well ventilated and lit, fully stocked with all the necessary items, and very clean. The breakfast was delicious, fully stocked, and served with a smile. Faye and Phil were the best hosts we could have hoped for. This B&B exceeded our expectations.

This was our first B&B experience so we had no idea what we were walking into. We just wanted to stay close to Prospect Park and our daughter.
We arrived Thursday evening and were shown to our room on the third floor by the lady of the house. She broke down how everything works and told us to let her know of we wanted breakfast in the morning. After going out that evening we returned to a toasty room and quiet night’s sleep. The next morning we came down for breakfast where Mr Phil had the table set, coffee ready, fresh fruit on table and calming jazz playing. We enjoyed some great conversation with the host as well as the other guests.
The next two days went the same way with us enjoying all the time we spent with our hosts.
We’ll definitely be back and I encourage you all to stay here.

My husband and I had a great experience staying here for 8 days recently. The room was lovely and spotless, all the amenities of a hotel, plus some. And another bonus was how quiet the room was, very little sound from outdoors comes in. Also, the owners were very helpful and friendly. We also enjoyed the breakfasts, very accommodating, too. We plan to stay here again the next time we visit Brooklyn! Highly recommend it.

I LOVED this place!!! My partner and I stayed there this weekend, and it was so, so lovely. The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating, they are so happy to help and provided us with whatever we needed. They were also very quick to reply! Courtney at the front desk was SUPER helpful and even gave us some suggestions for things to do in the city, which we ended up taking one of the recommendations, and it was a great time! She was also so friendly and bubbly and just really fun to talk to. Andre (I think was his name…?), or whoever the fellow was that was answering my messages, was incredibly attentive and provided us with a heater, shampoo, and conditioner upon request. My partner and I left in a hurry and couldn't stop at the front desk, but Andre even ran down the stairs and out the door just to wave “goodbye” to us and thank us for staying! As someone who is used to very sterile, polite, “professionalism” environments, that really meant a lot to me.
Things I loved:
-super cozy and warm environment
-rooms and bathroom were super clean
-very flexible check-in and check-out; we were able to leave our luggage in our room till 5pm while we ran around adventuring in the city
-very low-key; nothing was fancy or extravagant, it was just really comfortable and relaxed
-about a 6min walk from the nearest subway stop, and really great location for going to a lot of major places
-easy to go in and out of the room and the building without fear of being locked out
-the staff really look out for their guests and are personally invested in making sure everyone gets what they need
Things to consider:
-It's NOT a hotel, so the amenities, front desk availability, and overall “caliber” are different
-bathrooms and showers are outside of the rooms and shared with other guests
-it gets quite cold at night (though they happily provided us with a heater and we were fine)
My partner liked it but prefers the more standard accommodations and privacy of a regular hotel. I, on the other hand, am a super people person and love low-key, comfortable, interpersonal environments like this hostel provided! So while it might not be for everyone, I give it 5 stars for a really great place to spend a few nights, an amazing job done by the staff, and overall a wonderful stay with no complaints or negative experiences (ironically unlike many hotels I've visited). Thank you all so much for the wonderful stay!!!!!!!!

The staff and especially Courtney was amazing, super friendly, accommodating, helpful and full of tips that made our nyc adventures so beautiful! The room was simple but it was all we needed, just a place to come to after a long day out and about. We’d definitely stay here again, great location, fair price and honestly I’d come again even just for the friendly feeling. Thanks guys!

Deborah is such a warm and welcoming hostess! I called in advance of booking because my group had special accommodation requirements and she was so helpful. We loved the live jazz concert in the evening, it made the stay much more special than a cookie cutter, corporate hotel.

Sankofa Aban was an absolutely gorgeous location. An old house with history, as soon as I arrived I felt welcome and at home. When I got there I was given advice on some excellent food places nearby (Peaches was great! Thank you!) I arrived at the start of the weekday so the house and neighborhood was very calm and quiet during my stay. I stayed in the Green room which was on the highest floor right next to the bathroom. The room was spacious and beautiful! There aren't a lot of outlets (because of the age of the house) so keep that in mind if you bring a lot of stuff to plug in. I knew what I was getting into so it didn't bother me. I don't know why some people are saying this is a bad neighborhood, it was beautiful and quiet (for a city) even at night I didn't feel unsafe walking by myself. Before I checked out I had a wonderful conversation with the owner- she is such an amazing and kind person! I wanted to stay and keep talking but I would've missed my train home. I hope that next time I can experience the Live Jazz they have on the weekends!

I love Sankofa Aban.
The location is prime, the rooms are beautiful and comfortable, but most of all for me: Debbie and Eric really went the extra mile to make my time in Brooklyn great.
Plus, they put on an amazing jazz show every Friday and Saturday night.
I will definitely be staying at Sankofa Aban for my next visit to New York.

Met my brother and his wife there for a get together. I suggest this mansion for its great management and service. Had a wonderful time and the rooms are all fantastic. Great artwork and a study room with computer for those that need to get to the internet.

My husband and I planned a quick weekend getaway to Brooklyn and decided to stay her. We had a fabulous time! Our experience started before we even arrived. We had a late check-in and Monique was able to accommodate us by sending us the necessary information to access the home. We entered the room and the previously ordered champagne was on ice and strawberries and whip cream were still chilling. The room was beautifully lit with candles. The next morning we met Keenya, the innkeeper. Such a kind women…and her breakfast is amazing! Due to COVID-19, my husband and I were a little reluctant to join the other quests in the main dining room. Keenya was flexible and made arrangements for an outdoor breakfast on the screened in porch. All in all, we had a wonderful, relaxing time with nice fellowship in a beautiful, historic home!!

Rhonda’s became my home away from home. Not only is the place beautiful and clean, but Rhonda is an amazing host. She made my stay away from home so much more comfortable. Her home is conveniently next to a park, near a supermarket, Deli, bus stops and the subway. Her food is delicious and she is so kind and thoughtful! Staying with her was the best decision I made living in Brooklyn.

Here is the review from Markus Spahrkas.
This Rhonda Airbn in Brooklyn is highly recommended. We were very warmly welcomed here and had an extremely pleasant stay there. The bedroom and the other space left nothing to be desired and Rhonda's breakfast and generous kind were special ! We were also able to use her garden very well as a retreat in the great weather ( like an oasis) . Markus and Ulrike from Germany 5/19-6/1/2022″

I can not recommend this place enough! We had a wonderful stay, and had a great experience with everything regarding the accomodation. The hostess is very kind and went over and beyond to make our stay amazing. We stayed at her place in Greenwich Village, NYC and it was perfect. The apartment is close to everything you could possibly need, but still far enough away from all the noise and crowds. The apartment is homey, yet stylish and has everything we could ask for. Well equipped kitchen, spacious common areas, comfortable bedrooms and nice bathrooms. Overall we had an excellent stay and would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat.

We stayed in a lovely, well appointed, nicely decorated apartment in a beautiful old brownstone on 9th St while our own apartment was being renovated. It kept being delayed but Rebecca was so nice about extending our stay. She is a warm, thoughtful, considerate person who has great taste and incredible manners. As a New Yorker, I can say with knowledge that this location cannot be beaten. It's a couple of blocks from Washington Square Park and directly between the east village and the west village with a huge choice of restaurants, coffee shops and stores. Everything downtown is walking distance. And where else do you find one bedroom apartments with souring ceilings, original fireplaces, huge windows overlooking the beautiful gardens of Greenwich Village? I can't recommend it highly enough. You won't find a more authentic NYC experience.

Such a wonderful apartment!! This was the second time I stayed here and I was so happy to be back. The location is just perfect; Greenwich is such a charming neighborhood and the interior design in this space makes you feel like home. Very clean, chic, cozy, and inspiring. It's an enchanting nest in a prime location of NYC and I can't wait to be back. Thank you, Rebecca for being so attentive and accommodating.
