Arguably Austin's most venerable Hotel, this place has lots of charm and history. I went with a group for a luncheon and dined at their Lunch Cafe. You line up to order, then they bring it to you where you have seated yourself. I enjoyed a salad, others had a variety of choices. All were good if not exceptional and moderately priced. The hotel has a charming older interior and some of our group took a brief tour to hear it's interesting history. There are even ghosts, rumors say. Service is good and this is a great venue for a special meal, cocktails, or nights stay while here in the Texas capital city.

The hotel is gorgeous. Hands down the most beautiful hotel, and one of the most beautiful buildings I've ever been in. The staff were extraordinarily helpful, and friendly. The hotel room was perfectly clean. But be sure to get there before nightfall because 6th street is shut down and it makes it VERY difficult to get to the valet. Also, we left some personal items in the room and have been calling the security desk to check the lost and found. He keeps telling me he'll check and call be back but its been 4 days of calling and no results whether they have my items or not. It seems that they were either taken or thrown away and maybe he's afraid to deliver the bad news which is pretty disappointing. They weren't expensive but i would have just liked to have known either way.

My wife and I stayed at The Driskill Hotel for 4 days while visiting Austin. We stayed in the historic side of the hotel on the 5th floor…down the hall from the haunted room #525. I was told it is 90% original. It was a classic old school feel to it. The lounge has live music most nights. Lots of weddings and events. The room was nice. Very clean. I liked all the old photos hanging on the walls in the hallways and the history of Jess Driskill…the man who made the hotel for $400,000 in 1886. We did a bike, serial killer and walking tour and all of the tours stopped by the Driskill. Two thumbs up. I recommend staying at this historic hotel.

Excellently positioned in downtown Austin, staff meet and exceed all reasonable expectations, comfortable & quiet room as requested. No room service (temporarily?) due to Covid, but there is an in house restaurant and plenty of options within walking distance, so you won't starve. (They're also allowing deliveries so you have many options.) Powerful shower head with great volumes of hot water. Always nice.

Stayed here for a conference. The hotel was nice, I enjoyed the vibe and the aesthetic. The rooms were spacious. The gym was open early and closed late, and for the size of the hotel was excellent and packed with lot of options. They also had a pool and jacuzzi, although the latter was closed for maintenance while I was there. The lobby area features a little store where you can buy drinks and snacks. The hotel has both a bar on the second floor as well as Roaring Fork attached to it on the first floor. My only gripe was that I had a large water logged section of my carpet when I checked in. It was an annoyance but the hotel sent housekeeping to dry it while I was out. Other than that, good location, comfortable rooms, and a good hotel stay overall

Well I'm not sure how to rank this one. It was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was somewhat small but I liked the decor and the bathroom in particular was nice. However, and I hate to ding them too much, but there was no caffeinated coffee anywhere to be found except across the street at the coffee shop. The coffee in the room was all decaf and they didn't offer coffee in the lobby except on the weekends I guess. Overall it was a good stay.

Every year, I always stay at Residence Inn for New Years and leave out with a great experience. Everything from my stay (Front Desk, Breakfast Buffet, Servers, Concierge, Valet etc.) are always wonderful, but I am giving a bad rating because of security. On NYE around 11:40, I was walking back to the hotel to change really quick and go back on 6th street to party. The Residence Inn entrance was closed off, with the Courtyard entrance open. I'm walking up to the entrance and this big tall African American man walks up to me and says “Let me see your room key.” I looked at him concerned and asked, “Why do you need to see my room key?” I was uncertain if there was an issue going on in the hotel, if it were some personal issue, so of course I'm a little worried. I've never been asked for a room key. He sighs as if I were wasting his time, and then responds with: “Look, man, I'm just checking anyone coming in here is a residence–” and goes into mumbling something else. Meanwhile, 3 other people walked in without being asked for their room key. I would have understood if he came up to me cordially and explained, but the way he approached me seemed off putting as if I were a suspect. After front desk profusely apologized for the inconvenience, they stated the situation will be handled. Again, everything about this hotel is superb. My experience is just unfortunate.

I spent a week here with my family and the hotel was located in a great location downtown and had spacious rooms with kitchens which made it easier with a family. The hotel is connected to the Courtyard hotel and they share the same valet and breakfast services. With covid be prepared for a not ideal situation given the room costs. There was no cleaning services at all. We had to put our garbage in the hallway and request necessities like towels in a week long stay. Also, I thought only offering $49 a day valet service for parking was very outrageous. They had elevators for the garage, so I am guessing they normally have some sort of self parking, nut not now. At peak times. be ready to wait for your car. Also, the front desk was constantly busy so if your keys didn't work or if needed something you also had to wait. I understand there are staffing issues at all hotels but it seemed much more acute here then at other hotels I have stayed in recently.

We had a very good experience here. The room was nicely appointed, spacious, and clean. The bathroom was nice with a good shower. Everyone that worked there was super helpful and polite. We loved the filtered water stations by the elevators to refill our water bottles! The breakfast was nothing to write home about but I generally don’t have high expectations for hotel breakfasts. Overall very happy, no complaints.

Excellent hotel if you are in Austin. Right downtown and basically any room has a great view. Nice size TV and king bed. Good pillows being a huge plus. Breakfast buffet was decent. Only thing preventing 5 stars is that the only parking is valet. $50 day – not bad but was a surprise. Was not made aware during booking. Overall great facility.

$49 valet for one night!!!! SERIOUSLY!!!???? They dis not give notice of the fee. Just that it was a “valet only hotel”. They did not offer alternative parking options. Thus 4 stars. Otherwise very nice hotel, looked newly remodeled. Will stay again, but will try to park across the street for $19.

I came here for a one night stay to celebrate an anniversary. Although some of the perks I had through my AMEX platinum card, everything from our overall stay, the room (and how clean it was!), the brunch at Trace in the morning and the amenities were wonderful. However, the people there from the valet to the desk staff were so kind and attentive. Wow! Is all I can say after a wonderful stay at this hotel. Cocktails were great too – try the Lavaca!

I don’t mind small rooms but put in the effort for efficiency. An oversized curved couch taking the majority of the living space is poorly thought of. Storage is minimal. If I am going to pay premium for a hotel room, I expect a decent desk chair for work.

The place is clean and overall classy, but the room layout is pretty bad. Bathroom doesn't have a door except for the toilet itself, and the exhaust is only in there so the room gets super humid from the shower. The shower/sink layout being open and right next to the entry door is just silly. If you never have a guest come to your door or never share a room not a problem I guess, but there isn't. Benefit for this style nor is it particularly aesthetically pleasing to justify it since the rest of the room isn't completely open either.

We booked it because it had a spa. The spa hasn't been open in a year, and the hot tub was out of order our entire trip. Other than that, everything was fine. It was clean, and the staff were helpful and friendly. Overall, just an ordinary hotel. The gym was very nice.

Close proximity to convention center, connected by a sky bridge. Rooms aren't bad and the city views on high floors are great. Very tight parking. The entrance to the garage looks closed until you pull up to it. Check-in had long lines. We booked 8 months ahead, are Honors members, and did not get our upgrade requests. What must one do or who gets the upgrades? The Taco Project was closed the whole time we were there. Breakfast buffet was good but $25. We had one point of concern we were told a manager would call. No one did. Will we see you next year? Undecided.

They provided absolutely amazing service and made my stay an absolute delight! I was there for a company launch event and for being my first time in Austin, thought this would be a great experience. I was picked up and when I arrived I asked if it was possible to change the view of the room. I mentioned that if it was inconvenient then it was okay I'll just stick with the original reservation. I just wanted to do a little something nice for me after dealing with worsening health for months. They were nice enough to make that room change possible so I could have a view that brings me peace. Everyone was so nice and made sure I was always cared for. I needed a late checkout because I got in from the event late and was sleep deprived, I just needed sleep. It was a relief when they let me have a late checkout and after still made sure I was okay. Thank you for such a pleasurable stay!

Amazing staff and fastest check-in ever too! Only downside is no free parking or breakfast so beware of street parking due to many homeless individuals in the area it's sketchy especially at night. Within walking distance of major clubs and restaurants. The room was spacious, clean, no holes or stains present, and the air conditioning works great too. But most of all the staff was so kind and attentive I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Staff was very friendly and the Hotel itself was a hell of whole lot cleaner than hotels around the area. The person working front desk at that time made it very easy to just check in me and my family. I believe her name was Justina or Juliet. Something along those lines. Whoever it was needs a raise having to deal with myself and my spawns. All jokes aside, this hotel is one of the better hotels in the area.

I first want to note that the hotel staff is great, very friendly and accommodating. However, the amazing staff is about the only positive thing about this hotel. The location is also very good, especially for the price. However, it is very much worth spending another $30 a night to stay at a nicer hotel. I have stayed in many cheap hotels and expected a similar experience with a bare bones room that was clean. When we first walked into our room we were hit with an incredibly stale scent and although the hotel is non-smoking, I anticipate some of the smell was cigarettes (and possibly mold). In fact I saw another guest smoking in the doorway of their room, so if you have any sensitivities to smell this is not a good place to stay. Additionally, we woke up every morning with bloodshot eyes from what I am guessing mold and eventually developed a very severe cold in just 2 nights. Additionally, the room was not clean. I found a used mask on the floor as well as piles of paper clips. Our main bathroom light stopped working during our stay as well. We decided to check out a night early and move to another hotel down the road because the room made us so sick. One night in a new hotel and we felt instantly better, which makes me suspect there is a serious mold problem in the room. While I was packing up to move to the new hotel I kneeled on the ground and after I stood up my knees were incredibly sticky so like other reviews have mentioned, vacuuming is not enough the rooms need serious renovation. The final straw for us was as were were checking to make sure we did not leave anything behind before checking out we saw a cockroach in the bathtub. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel despite the great staff and fantastic location. For what it is it is overpriced and not worth sacrificing your health for.

This place is disgusting. I’m appalled to even write this review simply because didn’t want to recall the moment that we stayed here for two nights or be associated with this place. Two stars for the staff and the bed but for the room, it’s zero stars. I understand, for the money that we pay for there’s some things I can tolerate. However, whether you’re paying thousands of dollars or $200/night, I expect cleanliness and this place is far from that. The room definitely needs updating and make over. Here’s the summary: – The walls are too thin. I can hear every syllables that the next door neighbor is saying. So if you’re expecting a quiet night, forget it. – The carpet is disgusting. It has dog fur, crumbs, mildew, and areas where there’s no padding underneath. Cleaning it is not going to cut it. It needs to be replaced and redone appropriately. – Shelf in the closet is “hanging by a tread.” It’s not anchored to a stud. – Dirty AC unit is held by a 2×4 cut out with internal wires exposed. – The bed is ok. Comfy enough for a 1-2 night stay. – Bathroom needs a makeover. Holes and the wall and has a patchy job on the fixes. Cleaning it is not going to cut it, plumbing fixes need to be addressed. Shower head is not secured behind the wall and moves with a slight adjustment. – Entry hallways are dirty, carpet is simply disgusting. Safety hazard with slippery walkway by the stairs has oil and dirt stains.

Great location, most wonderful staff. Thanks for your great service at the front desk. And thanks for allowing the bus drivers to rest in your lobby while they're waiting between their shift, this is a class act. Had a great stay there. But don't expect the perfect room. They are solid at best and need some things fixed (e.g. the old and dirty mirrors), but it's okay for a few nights. You may have some party folk next to you, but that could lead to some nice evenings. Location is perfect. Short walks to UT, 6th Street, Downtown and the Texas Capitol is just across the street. I will stay there again.

Visited this “hotel” with my family this weekend. We dropped our belongings in the room mid day and came back at night. My mother checked the tub and there were tiny ants in the tub that were alive. We asked for a room change or refund. Front desk sent up a guy to check out the ants and the guy said that we should receive a call regarding a new room. After five minutes, the same guy plus another guy came to our door with a key to the room next to us. They both asked my mom to go with them to check the room. At this point I felt a little scared the two grown men were going with my mom alone in another room and told my brother to go check on her and make sure nothing happens. My mother only went halfway through the door and turned around anyways because she felt uneasy with two men hovering over her. She told them that she just wanted a new room on a new floor. The two men went back downstairs and the front desk man asked my mom “so what is it that you want”. My mom explained that she either would want a refund or a new room on a new floor and preferably a renovated room since the one we were staying in was very visibly outdated and under maintained. The front desk man said that all their rooms are the same. So my mom told him to just give her another room on a different floor. The man then accused my mom and repeatedly said “you just want a better room for free”. So my mom responded by stating that the front desk clerk himself said all the rooms are the same so she would just like a new room on a different floor. This man continued to argue with my mom and accuse her and eventually finally agreed to give us another room. TLDR: hotel staff is HORRIBLE and rooms are disgusting/ outdated/ not well maintained. They also make you pay $30 extra for parking.

I wish that I could give half starts because I would say this review is more of a four-and-a-half star rather than four. The hotel itself is very clean the rooms were great but small like most downtown hotels. The staff was great in every interaction we had with. They were a few technical issues at the hotel that were a little inconvenient. The first issue was with their credit card reader at one of the check-in stations at the front desk. The reader was throwing errors and resulted in our credit card getting blocked because it look like someone was trying to hack it. This led to a 20-minute process of trying to get checked in. The young lady at the front desk said they had been having issues with that machine for a while. The second issue we had was with the elevators. The hotel was packed on the night that we were there but only one elevator was running and honestly it sounded a little decrepit. In a time of sensitivity to social distancing having a pact elevator every time we wanted to go up or down made us a little uncomfortable. Overall these minor issues in the course of the weekend. I would still highly recommend the hotel if you want to stay in downtown Austin.

As far as Austin goes, this is my best stay at a Hilton property. The welcoming/front desk staff is always super nice/respectful and accomodating. The evening reception staff is great with managing the evening crowd. Stacey at breakfast reception is the most welcoming shining face to start your day. The only knock I have on this one is the $33 for mandatory valet parking… but there is no valet service; you have to park in the detached parking garage at the lot next door on the 3rd floor or above and the 1 of 2 working elevators is questionable at best (The other elevator has been broken down for almost a year).

Fantastic location where you can walk to the downtown venues from the hotel and feel welcomed as if you were home. The breakfast is fantastic and Stacey makes the best omelets and eggs! The rooms are spacious, but need to be updated to include more electrical plugs and USB ports for chargers or devices. Everyone on the staff that we met treated us like the most valuable guest and truly wanted to make sure that we were enjoying our stay.

This hotel was great. It was in a great location, walk-able to downtown restaurants and bars and the Congress bridge where the bats come out. Everyone at the front desk was friendly and helpful. The hotel breakfast was good and offered a lot including an omelet station. Rooms were a great size and comfortable bed; just needs a little updating but nothing serious. Would definitely recommend.

Valet only here at this hotel but PMC valet is top notch, a speedy and trusting service. Make sure you tip them because they our just like waiters/waitresses, they make a living off their tips. Front desk concierges were very friendly and made check in easy. Then, concluded the check in with a couple warm complimentary cookies. This hotel has been around I believe since the 70's, so the room are a little aged but they are still n nice. Thank you

Very nice hotel. Was nice having the suites. Rooms and corridors were very clean and modern. No problems or any issues. The parking I felt was a bit expensive at $45+tax per day as well as tips for the valet workers.

From the moment Tex checked us in, to Matt in the bar serving our drinks, we understood that we were in the right Hotel for our weekend getaway. We stayed three nights for the Texas, Oklahoma st game. The hotel is very nice, clean, and has great amenities. A very nice bar/lounge area with great drink selection and some good light food fare. Again Matt the bartender was quick with a drink and an amazing personality to have behind the bar. He represented the double tree brand excellently with his customer service. Tex, the front desk clerk was such a nice experience as well. A rather happy chap that got us checked in to our rooms swiftly and with such a pleasant demeanor. Highly recommend staying here if you are needing a room in downtown Austin.

I’ve never left a Google Review for, but I felt it necessary for this hotel. I almost did not stay here because of how bad the reviews are and how much they worried me, but that would’ve been a mistake. I’m glad I went through with my reservation. The check-in process could’ve been smoother (considering I had provided my tax documents, identification, and card info prior), and the front desk staff could have been more polite, but the rooms were perfectly fine. I had three rooms, and all of them are completely adequate for the price and we’re what you’d generally expect from a Super 8 Hotel. Sure, don’t get your expectations too high, but I had a perfectly fine stay here.

Worst hotel ever. Full of cockroaches. Never book there. Manager is a liar and accuses people of wanting to stay for free. So unprofessional and unsafe. I have bites all over my body. He didnt refund me my money. And as i promised him ill post the photos everywhere. Good luck

We stayed here for the whole weekend. It is little away from the whole downtown, where things are happening. But it is not that far also. They have a nice open terrace with a pool, which has nice seating arrangements. From their website and photos it seems like it has a view of Capitol building but trust me it looks so far and due to many surrounding construction it does not look clear. But the overall stay was super great. They do serve good breakfast and rooms and all are cleaned. Due to COVID-19 there are some rules for room cleaning which are quite weird please make sure if you need it.

We’re very disappointed in their customer service. Our family with two kids chose to stay at Hampton Inn at the Capitol one night on November 18 to celebrate our shared birthdays. We booked in their app with points, but the app charged our credit card when we checked out. We called the hotel for clarification and they asked us to call Hilton support line. We called Hilton support line and they asked us to call the hotel. Nobody could help us but bouncing us back and forth. Finally, a Hilton support staff was able to connect us with the hotel manager, Ms. Leigh. She was very nice to us, but she couldn’t do anything to help us fix the issue. She said she would contact the general manager, Mr.Sean, as he was working at home that date. Ms. Leigh sent an email to Mr.Sean and to us, explaining our issue for and asking him to help us. After 4 days of waiting, we didn’t hear anything from the general manager. We sent an email asking for updates on November 22 and today is November 24, we haven’t heard any responses from Mr. Sean. It has been 6 days, almost a week. This is very sad and disappointing the way we are treated, especially by the hotel’s general manager. We’ve been good customers. We have spread the words and have referred families and friends to stay at this location. We’re just deeply disappointed in their customer service.

This hotel is on campus of University of Texas. I am here for a conference and the meetings take place in the conference room of the hotel. Check-in process is smooth and fast. I have a king size bed room, and it is very clean and neat. They provide body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion! This is something important for me as I do not want to bring my own when I am Trying to travel light. Staff set up meeting room with camera, great technology! They also refilled breakfast items in the morning, as well as snacks and drinks in The afternoon. I enjoyed my stay and my meetings in this hotel. It is located in a very safe area, and it is very easy to walk to different places.

2 years ago when my wife and I dedicated a weekend to tour possible wedding venues, we struck gold. The AT&T Hotel and Conference Center was our 1st stop. We were greeted by Lauri Taylor and she gave us an amazing tour. She was so down to Earth, personable, and extremely genuine. After the tour ended, I looked at my wife and we both said to each other, “this is the one! Let’s cancel the other tours!”. 2 years later and we made the right decision. With the complications of Covid, we had to postpone our wedding by a year. Lauri was always with us every step of the way. Lauri was always accommodating with a smile on her face. She made our wedding flawless and perfect. To the higher ups at AT&T Hotel, please take some time to consider promoting Lauri and giving her a serious pay raise. She is the face of AT&T Hotel and is the epitome of professionalism and grace.

Lauri and the entire team at the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center truly made all of our wedding dreams come true! All of our family and friends are still talking about how great the appetizers, food, drinks, venue and entire wedding night were. None of this would’ve been possible without Lauri going above and beyond to make everything happen and make sure our vision came to life. The quality of the food was amazing, the service was incredible, and the whole experience as bride and groom at the hotel was one we will never forget! On the day of the wedding, Lauri made sure we didn’t have to worry about anything other than enjoying our wedding day. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

I have been staying at this hotel for the last six months or more. I know how much I pay to stay here. When we checked in at first they told us our reservation was canceled. The manager seemed nice like she was making it right. She was still going to find us rooms to stay in. Then when it was time to pay and I quote “324 ma’am and you can insert your card.” My mom was paying for our rooms. So then the manger rings up the next room and again “324 ma’am and insert your card.” When we get to our room my mom was worried cause she didn’t get a receipt. She pulls up her bank and they charged her card 1624.00! Yes you read that right! When we requested a full refund cause we have only been here an hour and we will go somewhere else the manager was like no you will be charged one night and you can still go. I have not ever seen Dori the manager on this property. We are rewards member so all of my stays have been documented. I’m going to cooperate with the matter and by the way our bank reversed the charge! I WILL NOT BE BACK TO THIS HILTON! It is unfortunate cause we are moving here next week and this is where I encourage all our family to stay while visiting. So yes Dori I got my money back and you need to find yourself a new career. You are running this place in ground where it has been enjoyable place for us many night just turned into our nightmare!

For the most part we enjoyed our stay at the property. I asked for the high floor but ended up facing the road so we dealt with road noise. Room was good, clean, and confrontable. We would stay again.

We tried to get into the Elephant bar but was too crowded so we ended up here. Entry way was cool. The band was a rap/jazz fusion. They sounded decent until the singer went freestyle. Became this wretched loud noise. Bartenders were cool. Enjoyed the drinks and just chilling at the bar. Drinks were reasonably priced. Cool place!

Long wait… sure, but it's worth it in my book. The meats were great even the turkey which I normally don't like. The leftovers were still REALLY delicious 6 hours later. The brisket a must and live up to the reputation, ribs are great and the pulled pork was so good. The sides weren't bad but I don't think I will get them the next time around and yes I will return the next time I am able and happily wait in line.

40 minute from line to getting the food. Not bad for Sunday at 1pm. Indoor & outdoor tables are available. Brisket was good, evenly cooked. You can order by the pound or just asking for number of slices. We also had a single order of potato salad & single order of coleslaw, a jalapeño & pie. They have a good selection of alcoholic canned beverages. Service was courteous & attentive!

Brisket was moist, tender, flavorful, ribs were as well with a back end heat that we really really really liked. Sausage had great taste n texture. Pinto beans were cooked perfectly and again, nice back end heat, potato salad had a nice consistency but was a little bland to me, I added some mustard, salt n pickle and it was better to my taste. Staff were super friendly at pick up and really seemed to enjoy sharing their bbq with folks. Loved the curbside pick up option as I never have time for 3 hours lines when I'm in Austin for work! Hubs and I were so happy to finally try it!!
